What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?
All-on-4 vs. Standard Dental Implants
Standard dental implants can revitalize your smile, but they often require several months of recovery time before they can properly support a prosthetic tooth and can even require a bone grafting procedure. The All-on-4® process uses just four dental implants to provide a sturdy base for your replacement teeth. They are usually able to serve as a foundation for your new crowns or dentures right away, without forcing you to wait three to six months to enjoy your new smile. All-on-4® implants can also stabilize your jawbone and stop the progression of bone atrophy that often accompanies tooth loss.
The All-on-4 Treatment Process
If you’re ready to transform your smile, your first step will be to schedule a consultation with Dr. Moore. He will evaluate your teeth and identify your goals. Every set of dental implants is custom-made to fit each patient’s mouth, so we may also take x-rays, intraoral images, or impressions of your teeth to guarantee the perfect fit.
If you are a good candidate for All-on-4® dental implants, you’ll attend a second appointment to undergo the procedure. An anesthetic will always be used so that your experience is as comfortable and painless as possible. After the metal posts are attached to your jawbone, you will be fitted for your new prosthetic teeth.
Caring for All-on-4 Dental Implants
Once your dental implants have fully healed, they will be able to function exactly as natural teeth. You can care for them by maintaining a comprehensive oral health routine that includes regular brushing, flossing, professional teeth cleanings, and oral exams. While All-on-4® dental implants are not typically covered by insurance, most patients feel that they are well worth the investment due to their relatively low level of maintenance and longevity. With proper care, most dental implants can last for decades or even a lifetime.
