The secret of Deep Bleaching
The Deep Bleaching procedure involves two in-office treatments and the use of custom-crafted bleaching trays that you wear while you are sleeping.
The secret is in the perfect seal and exact fit of the bleaching trays, which keep the Deep Bleaching gel compressed up against your teeth to work for hours at at time, going deeper and deeper, safely and gently whitening your teeth while you sleep.
The bleaching trays are perfectly fitted to your mouth, with such accuracy that you can't even feel them when you are wearing them. They form a tight seal against your gumline that prevents any bleaching gel from leaking into your mouth, so there is no bad taste or discomfort from the gel. They are so comfortable to wear that some people forget to take them out in the morning. As an added bonus, they are practically invisible.

How the Deep Bleaching treatment works
- Initial Examination: Before you begin your treatment, Dr. Moore does a thorough examination of your teeth and mouth, to ensure that there are no problems that should be treated before you begin your Deep Bleaching procedure, and to answer any questions you might have.
- Fitting for your custom trays: Next, Dr. Moore takes very detailed and precise impressions for your custom trays, using a specially formulated impression material and technique. A perfect fit is critical, because the gel must be sealed against your teeth so it can be absorbed into your teeth. As well, the seal forms a barrier against the fluids in your mouth, which can deactivate the gel.
- First treatment - conditioning: When the custom trays come back from the lab, the first in-office treatment is done. This is a simple, comfortable in-office treatment that applies an accelerated bleaching gel to start the conditioning process on your teeth. The bleach is applied in your own trays, which allows Dr. Moore to confirm that they fit and are working perfectly. The specialized bleach is applied twice, along with a desensitizing solution that also acts as a whitening conditioner
- At home whitening: After that, you wear your Deep Bleaching trays every night for 10 to 14 days. Before you leave the office, you'll be shown how to use them properly with the bleaching gel.
- Final visit and accelerated treatment: Next is your final in-office visit now that your teeth are fully conditioned to easily absorb oxygen from the bleaching gel. During this visit, a high-concentration hydrogen peroxide gel is placed on your teeth for about an hour. Because of the whiteness already achieved, plus the "conditioned" ability for oxygen from the high-concentration hydrogen peroxide to fully enter the crystalline structure of the tooth, the final results are truly remarkable. An additional acceleration of whiteness will occur during this visit, resulting in a beautiful white smile.
As you can see in the close-up picture below, the bleaching trays are very thin, practically invisible and very tightly fitted to your teeth. The two arrows show where the tray seals against your gumline.
Common questions and concerns
How long does the treatment last?
Unlike other whitening techniques, the results of Deep Bleaching virtually last forever. It's permanent. Part of the Deep Bleaching technique is an easy long-term maintenance step that you'll do at home, once every one or two months.
Is the treatment painful?
Except in unusually sensitive cases, you can have your teeth permanently whitened with Deep Bleaching with no sensitivity at all, or in some cases only minimal sensitivity. Even if you have ultra-sensitive teeth, you will be able to use this system.
Is there an age restriction on using the Deep Bleaching treatment?
It is suitable for anyone who has their full adult teeth. The very best age to start is around 14 years old, for it ensures that the teeth are fully conditioned throughout your life. It even works on older people, who have had no success with teeth whitening, because it rejuvenates the teeth's natural ability to absorb oxygen.
Will it make my teeth look too white?
No it won't, because it is simply converting the dark stains to white, restoring your teeth to their natural whiteness. Bleach only breaks up what is there, it does not whiten beyond what is natural.
Will I have to stop eating staining drinks and foods like coffee, tea, or wine?
No you won't. You won't have to change what you eat or drink at all. You simply follow the easy Deep Bleaching maintenance program and your teeth will stay the same color for the rest of your life.
How does bleaching work to whiten teeth?

Teeth are made up of an inner layer of dentin and an outer layer of enamel. You can think of the enamel as the porcelain finish on a sink, and the dentin as the layer underneath. Since the enamel is translucent the naturally yellow color of the dentin shows through, which is why real teeth are never pure white.
The enamel has a thin layer of saliva and protein over it. When we eat staining foods, the staining agents get caught in this layer, eventually working down into the dentin, and forming what are called long-chain stain molecules. These long-chain molecules are dark colored, and that's what you are seeing when your teeth look darkened and stained. To whiten the teeth, the long-chain molecules must be broken up into short-chain molecules, which are white.
Staining agents get down to the dentin layer through the pores or tubules in the surface of your teeth as you can see in the image to the right. The red arrow shows a tubule that is open, and the blue arrow shows a plugged or closed tubule.
Teeth whitening bleaches work by using peroxide gels that release oxygen. When the oxygen enters the pores or tubules of the teeth, it breaks the long-chain stain molecules into the little short molecules and your teeth are once again white.
When you are young, your teeth are more porous, and oxygen can naturally reach into your teeth, and that helps them stay white. As you get older, your teeth become less and less porous. They stain more easily and it becomes harder and harder to get the stains out because the oxygen isn't absorbed to do its work.
Our Deep Bleaching system not only whitens your teeth, it restores them to your youthful ability to absorb oxygen. It literally rejuventates your teeth, making them respond the way they did when you were young.
The Results: Before and after Deep Bleaching
The results are beautifully natural and healthy. As your teeth are whitened, they are also deep-cleaned, removing microscopic debris from your tooth structure. The results are dramatic, even for teeth that are badly stained, damaged by tetracycline or resistant to other teeth whitening procedures.

Advanced whitening at home in days, not weeks!
Dr. Moore offers advanced at-home whitening treatments using Opalescence. There is a significant difference between the results of prescription whitening trays compared to over-the-counter one-size-fits all trays.
Dr. Moore prescribes the Opalescence System, the first syringe-delivered, take home whitening gel fully approved by the American Dental Association. This patented formula is designed to give fast results that you can see in days, instead of weeks!
The specially designed trays are worn for as little as thirty minutes a day and the gel stays active up to 10 hours for intense whitening overnight.
The whitening gel is placed in the tray and worn at home for short intervals. Dr. Moore will create a custom tray from an impression of your mouth to ensure that your teeth get as white as possible, and also to make sure treatment is comfortable.
Dramatic Whitening in about one week
The Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gel is so powerful that it is only available as a prescription through dentists. These potent products can provide results after just one night, though you should expect to see dramatic results in about a week. The whitening formulas come in several strengths and three delicious flavors.
